Enrollment terms
Last updated September 1, 2026
1. Who we are. These terms cover programs run by Seamful School, LLC, a California limited liability company, PO Box 2147, Oakland, CA 94604, (510) 555-0147, hello@seamfulschool.com (“Seamful,” “we”). You must be 18 or older to enroll.
2. Accepting these terms. Enrolling on this site or on the course platform we use means you accept these terms. The platform’s and the payment processor’s own terms also apply to checkout and payment. We may update these terms for future cohorts; the version in effect when your seat is confirmed applies to your enrollment.
3. Enrollment. Your seat is confirmed when we receive payment in full. If a company is paying, your seat is confirmed when we accept its purchase order in writing, or when its invoice is paid. For programs with an application, your seat is confirmed once your application is accepted and paid for. We may cancel a seat that stays unpaid.
4. Tuition and payment. Tuition is listed in US dollars on each program page. It covers live sessions, recordings, and the materials we provide. It doesn’t cover your own computer, internet connection, or tools you choose to use. We don’t charge application, materials, or certificate fees. Invoices are due within 30 days. We don’t award degrees or academic credit, and we don’t take part in state or federal student aid programs.
5. When a company pays. If your employer pays, the company is our customer for payment, invoices, and refunds, and you are bound by the rules on conduct, confidentiality, recording, and materials. The company can replace you with a colleague once, in writing, before the second week begins. Refunds go only to whoever paid.
6. Refunds. For six-week programs, you can cancel for a full refund until the end of week two. For shorter programs, until the end of week one. After that, tuition isn’t refundable. Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days.
7. Moving to a later cohort. After the refund window, you can move once to the next cohort of the same program, at no cost, if you ask before the program’s halfway point. A moved seat doesn’t get a new refund window.
8. If we cancel or change a program. If we cancel a cohort, you get a full refund, or a seat in a later cohort if you prefer. If an instructor can’t teach a session, we reschedule it and tell you at least 24 hours ahead, except in an emergency.
9. Recording. We record live sessions, including what participants say and show on camera. By joining a live session, you consent to being recorded and to the recording being shared with your cohort. If you’d rather not appear in recordings, keep your camera off and use the chat, or tell us before the program starts and we’ll refund your tuition. Don’t make your own recordings of sessions.
10. Materials and your work. Recordings, worksheets, slides, and course briefs belong to Seamful. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own learning, during and after the program. You may not share, post, or resell them, use them to train AI models, or use them to run your own course. If your employer paid, the license also covers using them on the project you brought, but not for training others at your company. You own the work you create; by sharing it in the cohort, you let us and your cohort see it for critique.
11. Confidentiality. Work shared in critique groups stays in the group. Don’t share other participants’ work or contact details outside the cohort without their written permission.
12. Conduct. Critique the work, not the person. Don’t harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. We may remove someone from a cohort for breaking these rules, and a removed participant doesn’t get a refund.
13. Certificates. A certificate of completion goes to people who attend or watch every session and present their work at the end of the program. It is not an academic degree, credit, or license.
14. No promise of results. Our programs teach design practice. We don’t promise any particular skill level, job, promotion, pay, or business outcome, and nothing on this site should be read that way.
15. Disclaimer and limit of liability. Programs are provided as is. To the extent California law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, and our total liability for a program is limited to the tuition paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights that California law doesn’t allow a business to limit.
16. Governing law. These terms are governed by California law. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Alameda County, California, except where California law lets a consumer bring a claim elsewhere. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are the whole agreement about your enrollment.
17. Complaints. If you have a complaint, email hello@seamfulschool.com or call (510) 555-0147. Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, you may also contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
