Why Seamful
Show the seams.
Most software tries to be seamless, hiding where its parts meet and where it falls short. Seamful design, an idea from ubiquitous computing research, leaves those seams visible so people can understand them and work with them. AI features need this more than most software, because their limits change from one answer to the next.

Co-founder
Nadia Kessler
Nadia Kessler has designed software for fourteen years. She spent the last five on products built on language models, most recently leading design for a documentation assistant used by clinicians, where a wrong sentence could end up in a patient’s chart. Before that she designed search and recommendations for a large online marketplace. She co-founded Seamful in 2023, teaches every cohort of Designing AI Products, and leads the seminar for design managers.

Theo Baptiste
Theo Baptiste is a design engineer. For four years he built prototyping and evaluation tools for a team working on AI search, which meant sitting between the designers shaping what people saw and the engineers measuring what the model did. Before that he designed voice interfaces, with no screen to fall back on. He co-founded Seamful with Nadia, teaches Prototyping with Real Model Output, and leads the evaluation week of Designing AI Products.

June Whitaker
June Whitaker runs admissions, scholarships, and team cohorts. She spent eight years running programs at a design school before joining Seamful in 2024. Questions about invoices, deadlines, or whether a program fits your team go to June.

An instructor teaches every session in real time. Recordings are for catching up, not for taking the course on your own.

You bring a feature you’re designing now, or work from a brief based on problems we’ve seen with product teams.

Small groups
Critique groups of six, the same six for the whole course.

Instructors who practice
Between cohorts, Nadia and Theo work with product teams, and bring that work into class with permission.
