Marcus Hale
Senior product designer, logistics software
Designing AI Products, Cohort 7
“Dispatchers had stopped using our route suggestions. Accepting one replaced the plan they’d already made, instead of sitting next to it.”

Marcus brought a route-planning assistant that tested well and then went unused. The routes were usually fine. Accepting one erased the plan the dispatcher had already made. He rebuilt it as a side-by-side comparison, with a way to merge the two.

Ana Lúcia Ferraz
Product designer, personal finance app
Designing AI Products, Cohort 9
“My critique group saw the feature every week, so they caught what I’d stopped seeing: we never told anyone when a category was a guess.”

Ana worked on automatic categories for bank transactions. In week three she designed a marker for categories that came from the model’s guess rather than a rule the person had set, and a way to fix one and apply the fix to similar transactions.

Daniel Osei
Design lead, contract review software
Designing AI Products, Cohort 8
“Our lawyers didn’t want a smarter summary. They wanted to see which clause each sentence came from.”
“Our lawyers didn’t want a smarter summary. They wanted to see which clause each sentence came from.”
Daniel’s team had spent months making contract summaries more accurate. In week three he designed a view that links each sentence of a summary to the clause behind it. That view was the work he brought to his final critique.

Kristen Walsh
Product manager, customer support software
Designing AI Products, Cohort 6
“I used to write ‘the AI handles it’ in specs. Now every spec I write has a section on what happens when it doesn’t.”

Kristen was the only product manager in her critique group. She started adding a failure section to every spec that involves a model: what the customer sees, who picks up the conversation, and what that agent already knows when they do.

Ibrahim Nasser
UX designer, healthcare scheduling
Prototyping with Real Model Output, Cohort 3
“I’d been designing with made-up replies for a year. The first live output was longer than anything in my mockups, and it often asked a question instead of offering times.”

Ibrahim prototyped an assistant that suggests appointment times from a scheduling request. Live responses broke his layout and often came back as a question. He designed a state for that question, one his mockups had never included.

Hannah Brooks
Design manager, insurance software
Leading AI Design Work, Cohort 2
“Our reviews kept turning into arguments about one lucky screenshot. Now we look at ten real outputs, picked at random, before anyone talks about the interface.”
